A Joseph for my girls!

Christmas is right around the corner and most of the radio stations are playing Christmas music which I absolutely love. Yesterday on the ride home from shopping I heard Faith Hill's A Baby Changes Everything. First time I heard that song I thought it was about a teenage pregnancy and what the girl was going thru, and loved it cause it touched my heart. Yesterday was the first time that I realized it was about Mary and what she must have went through when she realized she was an unwed virgin and pregnant with baby Jesus. I cant tell you how much I love this song now because it speaks to my heart on so many levels!!( I'm not going to type out the lyrics to the song because honestly the whole song is really good, go check them out) Every year my husband and I put the Nativity Story on and we all sit down and watch it, I do this to remind my girls what the true meaning of Christmas is. Its easy for kids to get all excited about Santa and the presents and all that is fine but I dont want them to ever forget why Christmas is such an important day. After hearing that song by Faith Hill it reminded me of that movie the Nativity Story and that we need to watch it soon. So I wrote "Watch Nativity Story" on a date in my calendar,  Sunday December 23. And yes I have to write it down or unfortunately I will forget and this is important to me so I made sure to write it down. For the rest of the day I kept on singing that song in my head and here and there I would think about what Mary must have gone thru during that time in her life, and how strong she must have been. Then I thought about Joseph. Oh how I love Joseph, what a man he must have been. Could you imagine finding out the woman you are supposed to marry is pregnant. I'm sure there was talk about who the baby's father was and assumptions that Joseph heard about Mary. It says in the bible that Joseph did not want to disgrace Mary in any way but because of the law they would divorce. He must have been so hurt and yet he did not want to hurt or disgrace Mary in any way. Then he has a dream where the Holy Spirit tells him what has happened to Mary and to name the baby Jesus. Because Joseph was a Godly man and believe what he heard in his dream from the angel, he then took Mary to be his wife. In the movie the Nativity Story it shows Mary and Joseph's friends casting them out and judging them. I truly believe that this is what happened. Joseph did not care tho he had faith in what the Lord had told him! Great attribute for a man to have, no wonder why God choose him to Jesus` father. One of my favorite parts in the movie is when Mary washes Joseph's feet. These two people who hardly knew each other not only find out that they will be raising the Lord and Savior but now have to travel all the way to Bethlehem for the census. What doesnt kill you makes you stronger right? I believe that this trip brought Mary and Joseph together, and stronger! I pray that my girls marry a man like Joseph, a strong, faithful, unwavering man. We all know how the story ends and that Mary has baby Jesus in the manger in Bethlehem. Many people focus on the end result, yes it is truly fabulously AMAZING that God sent his son to deliver us from our sins, but I like the story of the journey, and the people that God choose to raise his son!! I hope that my husband and I could be half of the amazing people that Mary and Joseph must have been in the eyes of the Lord!!
